Caponata

Image

Sicilians know their foods for sure. Caponata is one of their signature dishes, consisting of cooked aubergine, celery and other vegetables of your choice. With a finishing touch of some capers and sweetened vinegar. I’ve given it two tries thus far, the first one being ok and the second delizioso.

Let me show you the way.

Lasagna can be a quick & rather light dish, too, if made “open” and boiled. This was a newsflash to me. Didn’t complain, thou.

This one I copied from Helsingin Sanomat, but I’ll gladly google you bunch of other recipes.

The key to success here, as it is always with the simplistic pasta dishes, is of course the ingredients. Grab some grade A salsiccia to match your well chosen penne, parmesan & olive oil. Buon appetito!

Let me google that for you.

Sicilian Chocolate Lasagna

Thx Google. Thanks for being the gastronomic Bible once again and guiding me to the light that is Sicilian chocolate lasagna. No, I don’t really care whether it’s originally an age-old sicilian recipe passed on from generation to generation (as many stories have it) or if it’s just something that the american restaurant chain Olive Garden came up with and named to sound more authentic and ecstatic (as other stories have it). Either way it’s sinfully delicious – from the first thought to the last forkful.

Let me google the ABCs of this Sicilian/Olive Gardenian treat for you.
